Purchase of agricultural machinery, supply of dairy products, cooperation in the medical field are three priorities for Cuba in cooperation with Belarus. This was announced by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to the Republic of Belarus Santiago Perez Benitez at a meeting with Belarusian business circles, which took place in the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Deputy Chairperson of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Elena Malinovskaya, opening the event, noted that relations between Belarus and Cuba are traditionally friendly. Cuba is a significant partner of Belarus in the international arena and one of the most important allies in the Western Hemisphere.
The meeting allowed exporting enterprises to obtain useful information about the investment potential of Cuban markets, as well as about the possibilities of exporting Belarusian products to this country. Business representatives were interested in the terms of delivery to the Western continent of equipment for retail chains - racks, checkout counters, refrigerators, the possibility of participation of Belarusian companies in the modernization of Cuba's energy sector.
The parties also discussed the development of cooperation in the tourism sector. Last year, about 8,000 Belarusians visited Cuba for tourism purposes. According to Santiago Perez Benitez, this is not enough, so it is necessary to consider different approaches to improve this figure.
