Within the framework of Kazan Days in Minsk, the business forum “Minsk and Kazan: Twinning – New Driver of Development” was held. The event, organized by the Minsk Branch of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry jointly with the Minsk City Executive Committee, brought together about 150 entrepreneurs and representatives of leading companies from both countries.
The forum opened with welcoming remarks from the Chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee, Vladimir Kukharev, the Mayor of Kazan, Ilshur Metshin, and the Chairman of the Union “Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Tatarstan”, Shamil Ageev. The forum was opened and moderated by the General Director of the Minsk Branch of BelCCI, Sergey Nabrzesko.
Vladimir Kukharev emphasized the strategic significance of partnership with Tatarstan – one of the most dynamically developing regions of Russia. According to him, in 2025 the turnover between Minsk and Kazan reached 280 million USD, which testifies to the correctness of the chosen course. Special attention is paid to industrial cooperation: only last year about 3 thousand units of Minsk Tractor Works tractor equipment were supplied to Tatarstan.
The Mayor of Kazan, Ilshur Metshin, noted that Belarusian products are well-known and in demand in the capital of Tatarstan. “Half of the public transport in Kazan consists of buses, trolleybuses, and trams of Minsk production. They are reliable, comfortable, and have proven themselves excellently in operation.” He expressed confidence that the forum will become a new stage in strengthening ties – from petrochemistry and IT to construction and mechanical engineering.
A number of important agreements and contracts were signed on the sidelines of the forum, expanding cooperation not only in the industrial sector but also in social areas:
Within the framework of the business forum, bilateral business negotiations took place. The constructive dialogue of participants was aimed at intensifying trade and economic cooperation and creating new production chains. The format of direct meetings allowed the parties to promptly work out commercial proposals and agree on the terms of further cooperation.
The business program also included the delegation of Kazan’s visit to leading industrial enterprises of Minsk. Visits to production sites allowed potential partners to assess the technological competencies of Belarusian companies and identify integration points into existing production chains.
The signed agreements and established direct contacts create a practical foundation for expanding trade turnover and implementing joint projects in priority sectors of the economy.
