From Dialogue to Concrete Contracts: Belarus and Azerbaijan Strengthen Trade Partnership

A business visit of a Belarusian delegation to Azerbaijan, organized by the Minsk Branch of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, took place fr om October 14 to 17 and became an important stage in the development of strategic economic cooperation between the two countries.

The central event of the visit on October 15 was the Azerbaijan-Belarus Business Forum, held by the Export and Investment Promotion Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (AZPROMO) jointly with the Minsk Branch of the BelCCI. The forum served as an authoritative platform for dialogue between leading representatives of business, government agencies, and investors, wh ere current and prospective areas of cooperation were discussed, and experience was exchanged in search of new common ground.

In his welcoming speech, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Republic of Azerbaijan, Dmitry Pinevich, noted that bilateral relations are built on mutual trust and a stable foundation, and the potential for cooperation remains high. He emphasized the need to develop joint infrastructure and production projects, which aligns with the policy of both countries to diversify their economies and strengthen regional integration. The Deputy General Director for Foreign Economic Relations of the Minsk Branch of the BelCCI, Irina Ivanova, detailed Belarus's export potential, noting the increase in supplies of high-tech products and the expansion of the product range.

A key task of the forum was to strengthen bilateral trade and economic ties and find new opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation. During intensive B2B negotiations, representatives of Belarusian companies held more than 40 meetings with Azerbaijani partners, facilitating the direct exchange of contacts and discussion of specific projects in areas such as the food industry, construction, and investments. The negotiations confirmed the high interest of Belarusian businesses in expanding exports and attracting investments.

For reference: in the first eight months of 2025, trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Belarus reached $270 million US dollars, demonstrating dynamic growth. According to official statistics, key Belarusian exports include mineral fertilizers, construction materials, agricultural machinery, and food products. Azerbaijan, in turn, supplies Belarus with petroleum products, textiles, and chemical industry products. Over 120 Belarusian companies are registered in the republic, successfully operating in various sectors of the economy.

An important outcome of the forum was the signing of contracts.These included agreements on the supply of canned dairy products, butter, and dry dairy products manufactured by ОАО "Rogachevsky MKK".

During the visit, the Belarusian delegation also held a meeting with the Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus to Azerbaijan, Dmitry Pinevich, at the Embassy. The event discussed current issues of bilateral cooperation and the specifics of doing business in Azerbaijan. Particular attention was paid to interaction with government agencies and investors, which is crucial for the implementation of joint projects. Participants exchanged experiences, discussed existing barriers, and opportunities for supporting Belarusian companies in the local market.

Furthermore, the delegation visited the international exhibition "BakuBuild 2025" – one of the largest construction exhibitions in the Caucasus, showcasing modern technologies and materials for construction and architecture. Business negotiations with exhibitors were held within the framework of the exhibition.

Delegation members also familiarized themselves with the activities of leading Azerbaijani enterprises and retail chains, which allowed them to study the specifics of the local market and exchange best practices.

Thus,the visit demonstrated a systematic and comprehensive approach to the development of bilateral cooperation, underscoring the strategic importance of the Azerbaijani direction for the Belarusian economy. The partnership between the countries is actively supported at the state level, as evidenced by existing intergovernmental agreements and regular business missions.

The expansion of trade and economic cooperation between Belarus and Azerbaijan aligns with the general course of strengthening integration processes in the post-Soviet space and meets the priorities of diversifying the sales markets for Belarusian companies.
