16 April 2026

A Unified Information Day took place at the Minsk branch of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, focusing on two significant and profound topics: the aftermath of the Chernobyl tragedy in Belarus and the role of women in family and societal life.

Elhada Grigoryevna Vlasenko, a deputy of the Minsk City Council, presented a report dedicated to the anniversary of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant disaster. In her speech, she emphasized that this tragedy has been a serious challenge for the Belarusian people, altering the lives of over two million individuals. Elhada Grigoryevna paid special attention to issues of healthcare and rehabilitation, highlighting the exceptional value of health. According to the deputy, the health of citizens is the foundation of our country's stability and prosperity, and caring for it is a priority of state policy in overcoming the consequences of the disaster.

Oleg Meshcheryakov, the rector of the Church of the Protection of the Holy Virgin (in Chachkovo, Minsk District), spoke about the spiritual support of the modern world. At the beginning of his address, Father Oleg warmly congratulated the team on the bright holiday of Easter. He then elaborated on the significant role of women in family and society, with particular emphasis on the spiritual aspect of the union between man and woman. The clergyman touched upon the profound theme of the Trinity, noting that true harmony is built on a solid spiritual foundation. In his words, it is through the creative energy, patience, and love of women that the basis for a strong family and a healthy society is laid.

The event concluded with an open dialogue, during which the staff of the branch had the opportunity to ask questions to the speakers.
