4 December 2025

Collaborating with Chinese partners presents significant opportunities for Belarusian businesses, yet requires a deep understanding of China's business and cultural specificities. This was the central theme of the seminar "Peculiarities of Developing Business Relations and Implementing Projects with Chinese Business Partners," organized by the Minsk Branch of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BelCCI) and the Confucius Institute of Sinology (CIS) at Belarusian State University.

The event was moderated by CIS Director Professor Anatoly Tozik.

Consul General of the Republic of Belarus in Chongqing, Dmitry Yemelyanov, provided a detailed overview of the contemporary Chinese market. He highlighted its unique characteristics and considerable potential for Belarusian exporters, while stressing that success demands a strategic approach and adaptation to local business realities.

Sergei Nabeshko, Director General of the Minsk Branch of BelCCI, delivered a practical report titled "Online Search for Information about a Potential Business Partner from China and Their Comprehensive Due Diligence." During his presentation, he detailed the key tools for assessing a counterparty's reliability, focusing on the most critical and priority aspects of a comprehensive background check.

Throughout the seminar, experts examined in detail topics of paramount concern for anyone entering the Chinese market:

  • Brand protection and logistics under sanctions.
  • Conducting negotiations with an understanding of local mentality and protocol.
  • Mechanisms of financial support.

Successful development of business partnerships in the Chinese market necessitates a comprehensive and meticulous approach. The organizers emphasized that a systematic and well-considered strategy helps minimize risks, enhance the quality of interaction, and ensure reliable, long-term cooperation with Chinese partners.
