Rafting on the Neman River
22 July 2024

On July 14, a one-day water trip took place - rafting on the Neman River! The river is old - its floodplain began to form about ten thousand years ago. The Neman was a source of life for people, its waters served as a trade route that united the cities and settlements of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, and defensive castles and fortresses grew on its banks.

The rafting trip was organized by the Trade Union Committee of the “Minsk Branch of the BelCCI Unitary Enterprise” with the participation of a group of accredited professionals fr om the water tourism website veslo.by

The event was attended by 27 tourists who rafted on three rafts. The total length of the water route was about 20 km. This, of course, is not much, but for most of the participants it was the first water trip, and for experienced people it was a wonderful relaxing weekend!

The first stage of the rafting, 10 km long, was from the village of Yershi (Uzda district) to the village of Mogilno, wh ere travelers were greeted with a hot lunch and entertained with sports games. After a short rest on the shore, the journey continued with another 10-kilometer rafting trip to the village of Sverinovo (Stolbtsy district). At the final point of the route, the rafting participants could not resist the wonderful opportunity to take a farewell swim in the legendary Belarusian river.

For the organization's employees, this rafting became a real test of endurance and ability to work in a team. Adrenaline, excitement and thirst for adventure were overwhelming. Fresh air, the splash of water under an oar, quickly changing views on both sides of the river, swimming and relaxed communication will remain in the memory of travelers for a long time.
