12 March 2026

On March 12, 2026, a practical seminar titled "Belarus and Hong Kong – Strategic Opportunities and Development of Business Partnerships" was held at the Minsk branch of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The event attracted significant interest from the business community, with over 70 participants in attendance, including representatives from leading companies in the Republic of Belarus who are eager to expand their presence in Southeast Asian markets.

Opening the seminar, Irina Ivanova, Deputy General Director for Foreign Economic Relations at the Minsk branch of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, emphasized the importance of this direction for Belarusian exports. She noted that the Minsk branch has maintained close working contacts with the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and Invest Hong Kong for a long time and highlighted that all conditions have been created for effective dialogue and the search for new growth opportunities for domestic enterprises in this strategically important region.

As part of the business program, Nikita Petruchenya, Vice Consul at the General Consulate of the Republic of Belarus in the Hong Kong SAR, addressed the audience. In his presentation, he provided a current overview of opportunities and prospects for Belarusian businesses under the present circumstances. The Vice Consul emphasized that the foundation of current cooperation was laid during reciprocal delegation visits and the regular participation of Belarusian companies in major international exhibitions in Hong Kong, which has allowed many domestic brands to successfully establish themselves in the region over the past two years.

The practical segment of the seminar continued with Kristina Alexeyevna Zemskova, Project Manager at the official representation of HKTDC. She elaborated on the exhibition calendar for 2026 and introduced support programs that help convert participation in exhibitions into real export contracts. Leonid Viktorovich Orlov, Chief Consultant at the Hong Kong SAR Government Department (Invest Hong Kong), discussed the advantages of having a physical presence in Hong Kong for effective operations in the Greater Bay Area and Southeast Asia.

After the presentations, experts answered numerous questions from company representatives regarding logistics, financial support for transactions, and legal aspects of operating in the Hong Kong market. The event concluded with informal networking in a small-talk format, allowing participants to discuss specific business cases and establish direct contacts with the invited speakers.
