Minsk-Shanghai Economic Bridge Strengthened within the Shanghai Initiative
18 June 2025

A Belarusian-Chinese business meeting took place in Minsk on June 18 and was organized by the Minsk branch of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Shanghai Federation of Industry and Commerce. The event turned to be a practical embodiment of the goals of the Shanghai Initiative, which is represented by the Minsk branch of the Belarusian CCI—a multilateral platform established in October 2024 to enhance cooperation among business circles from 12 countries worldwide.

A key event was a Memorandum signing which indicated understanding between the Minsk branch of the Belarusian CCI and the Shanghai Federation of Industry and Commerce. This document lays the groundwork for direct contacts between enterprises, joint projects within the framework of the "Belt and Road" initiative, as well as mutual promotion of goods and investments.

The forum was attended by representatives of the Hongkou District government (Shanghai) and leaders of six major Chinese companies, including:

• Shanghai Kaiquan Pump (smart water supply systems),

• WG Smart Water Technology (water purification technologies),

• Universal Energy (renewable energy power plants),

• Shanghai Wanway Digital (IoT equipment for GPS tracking),

• JOCA Special Cable (green energy cables),

• Anjie Broad Law Firm (legal support for projects).

During the B2B negotiations, the parties discussed: the supply of Chinese IoT equipment and energy cables for the modernization of Belarusian enterprises; the use of technologies; the creation of a logistics hub in Belarus for the export of Chinese goods to the EAEU and other projects.

"The attention of Shanghai – a global economic centre – opens up access to technologies and investments for Belarus," noted Sergey Nabeshko, General Director of the Minsk branch of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

As part of the implementation of the memorandum, the Minsk branch of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry invites Belarusian enterprises to participate in visits to Shanghai:

• June 2025: A delegation will travel to Shanghai to attend exhibitions;

• November 2025: Belarusian companies’ business mission to Shanghai for project launches.
